The National Science Foundation recently approved funding for a $600,000 scholarship program that will provide $5,000 a year for 28 Brockport students. The proposal, submitted by mathematics professor, Dr. Sanford Miller, received excellent reviews from the NSF panel. (0) comments

Hundreds of students slowly filed into the Union Ballroom Tuesday, April 28, to celebrate the life of Daniel Dix. Dix died in the early morning Saturday, April 25, after an accidental fall down a Dobson stairwell. "I think all of us have a little bit of him inside of us," friend Jess Moore said at the podium. At the end of the semester, the History department will lose one of its most valued and beloved faculty members. Dr. Jenny Lloyd, the current chair of the department, will be retiring at 70 years old. Lloyd also served as the director of the Women's Studies program and interim dean of Brockport's graduate school. (0) comments
A College at Brockport student was killed in a motor-vehicle accident in the early hours of May 23. Dakota Deats, 22, of Bath was pronounced dead after the car he was driving went off the side of the road and hit a utility pole. The accident happened around 3 a. (0) comments
A Brockport freshman, who became paralyzed after a September incident, filed a lawsuit against 23 Brockport students, the national and local chapters of Sigma Alpha Mu and a local business owner. Bryan Parslow, 18, and his mother, Beth, are named plaintiffs in the lawsuit that cites underage drinking, fraternity pledging, hazing and negligence. (22) comments
