For another year, The College at Brockport's athletic teams strung together successful 2008-09 seasons. It may not have been the most decorative the school has seen, but Brockport reaffirmed their exceptional standing within SUNYAC competition. The Golden Eagles will likely finish third in the SUNYAC commisioner cup standings, a system where every school in conference is ranked based on its success throughout the year. (0) comments
For the past two years, I have been able to "get up on my soap box" each week and share my thoughts and opinions with readers of The Stylus. Some of these were serious thoughts, about serious issues. Oftentimes, however, I utilized this column to vent frustrations with the disappointing or upsetting things that happen in the world of sports. (0) comments
I remember hearing a quote after legendary sportscaster, Jim McKay, died that said something like, "Broadcasters keep talking about how great McKay was, but for some reason they keep trying to imitate Chris Berman." No truer words have since been spoken. Give Berman credit, he created a whole new style of broadcasting. (0) comments
The annual Brett Favre comeback story has already reared its ugly head, and as sports fans know, that means another summer full of will-he-or-won't-he debates. It was reported last week that the indecisive one requested to be released from the Jets twice. The Jets, probably fearing a comeback from Favre and his $13 million cap hit, granted his release, and inadvertently set off the Favre-to-the-Vikings rumors once again. (0) comments
In basketball, there are several kinds of players, which encompass the duo of seniors Brenlyn Campbell and Molly Brewer. First, there is the quiet player who, instead of jawing off to the opposing team, talks with her game. Without a doubt, Campbell is that player, and has become one of the best players in SUNYAC history. (0) comments

The Brockport men's lacrosse season has come and gone. Between glorious victories and heart-wrenching losses, the Golden Eagles experienced much in 2009. Brockport was 4-3 after their first seven games, but would then drop four of their next five contests to finish 5-7 (3-4 SUNYAC). (0) comments
The College at Brockport women's lacrosse team had a season that was a tale of two halves. Through the first seven games, the Golden Eagles (5-9 overall, 5-4 SUNYAC) couldn't catch any breaks, and lost all seven decisions. Over the last seven games, however, the Golden Eagles showed how good they could be, going 5-2 over that stretch. (0) comments
The NBA playoffs in the Western Conference have been about as entertaining as Mike Myers' The Love Guru - not at all. While the Eastern Conference saw three of its four series go at least six games, the Western Conference had only one go six, while the other three series were decided in five games. (0) comments
To say the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs was good is an understatement. None of the series seemed too top heavy, as the only sweep was the No. 1 seed Cleveland over the eigth seeded Pistons. Now entering the second round, fans of the NBA are sure to be ready for two more great series. (0) comments
The Brockport softball team went in to the weekend of the SUNYAC tournament hoping to walk out with a title. Unfortunately, that did not happen for the Golden Eagles, as they were bounced out of the tournament, with losses to Buffalo State and Cortland. Brockport's first opponent was Plattsburgh, the No. (0) comments
